Subject Area: Combinatorial Commutative Algebra

Background and Research Interests

I completed my M.Sc from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2008. I joined IISER Mohali in Jan 2009. I am working under the supervision of Dr. Chanchal Kumar.

The broad area of my research is Combinatorial Commutative Algebra. The symbiosis of combinatorics and commutative algera started by Stanley in 1970’s, have proved beneficial for many branches of Mathematics. Using tools from commutative algebra, Stanley proved remarkable results in combinatorics. The aim of my research is to obtain purely combinatorial characterization of certain homological invariants, such as, Betti numbers, multiplicity of the ideals of commutative rings associated to simplicial comlexes, polytopes or some such combinatorial objects.
